If you watch “behind the scenes” of your favorite TV series or movies, you may have noticed someone with a clipboard or tablet working closely with the Director and Actors and always hovering in the background. Who IS that person? That’s the Script Supervisor – likely the most misunderstood position on a film set. Thought of as the “on-set Editor”, the Script Supervisor works closely with the Director, Actors, Cinematographer, and numerous other departments – more than any other “below-the-line” position.
Lisa Postma was thrown into Script Supervison when no one else in her jurisdiction did the job, and not only did she fall in love with the position - she thrived! Come learn about the position that is NOT for the faint of heart. Over the weekend, you will learn duties, skill sets, and the tips & tricks that Lisa has discovered during her years on set.
Lisa will NOT be focusing on technologies and software associated with the job, but on getting you to THINK like a Script Supervisor! Technology will change. Lisa wants you to standout with the practical knowledge you will gain from this course.
If you love film so much that you want to do everything, or, even if you’re focused on another career in film, this course is for you! WHY? A Script Supervisor’s skills and knowledge are essential for so many other careers in film – Directing, Editing, Camera, Props, Set Dec, Hair, Make-Up. Topics will include coverage, slating systems, shot documentation and description, tracking continuity, working with the Director, Actors, and other departments, and more!
